Spurs dodged huge transfer bullet, Arsenal didn't Free UPDATED

Danny Welbeck is presently searching for a club.

In it, he claims that Welbeck was on the verge of moving to Tottenham Hotspur but that he intervened at the eleventh hour, while he was waiting to meet the Pope.

Wenger aforesaid, when asked approximately funny stories for new signings: "Danny Welbeck when I went to the Match for Peace.

"At the airdrome I was told he was signing for Tottenham and I managed to intercept him. It was a funny story because I was negotiating all day.

"We had Ivan (Gazidis) and Hawkshaw Police force to negotiate and they called me up and I had the agent happening the phone.

"And I told him, 'Look, I ingest to hang up because I'm in front of the Pope'. Helium said to me, 'What?'. I aforesaid 'Yes', because we were queuing to have a photo with the Pope in a private consultation, and I was at the back of the waiting line because I had to talk and negotiate.

"I arrived in front of the Pope and I had to say, 'Look, that's not possible anymore. I will satisfy the Pope now'."

Wenger should have let Welbeck move to Spurs.

He endured an injury-ravaged time at Arsenal, lacking a total of 123 games during his spell in north London.

He also never managed to score more than five goals in a single Premier League season at the Gunners, essentially becoming a big-money flop.
